  • Sharing playlists to your fans and creating collaborative playlists with your fans
  • Updating directly from your discography
  • Easier access to changing your avatar picture
  • Ability to brand your playlists with images
  • Better opportunities when submitting your tracks to branded playlists

Here’s how to get that blue checkmark beside your Spotify Artist profile picture:

First of all, you need to create a free Spotify account. (I’d suggest you create a username that is the same as or close to your artist social media profiles. For example, if your band name is The Red Cups, your username should be theredcups or theredcupsband.)

Once you’ve created your account, go to the page your music is on – where your discography is listed. Read: Type in your name on the Search bar.

When you’re there, you need to see how many people are following you. To do this, you can either just look in the bottom right corner of the top banner or click the ABOUT tab under that top banner.

Do you have 250 followers? If the answer is yes, you now have the three requirements you need to verify for your Spotify Artist page and get that pretty blue check mark beside your name! Hooray!

Click here to fill out the official artist verification submission form. Oh, and be patient in the verification process. They’re extremely nice folks, but they’re very busy. Make sure you give yourself at least a 6-8 week lead time for verification before you’re distributing a new project to Spotify.

If you’ve submitted for artist verification over a month ago, you can follow up using artistverification@spotify.com.

Do you have less than 250 Spotify followers? If so, that’s okay! Use your social media channels to start a campaign dedicated to increasing your following!

Here are a few tips:

  • First, find the URL associated with your Spotify Artist page. To do this, while on your page, click the ellipsis button on the top banner. From there, choose ‘Copy Artist Link’. That will be the link you’ll need to post. There’s also the option to get the Embed code if you want to place this on your website.
  • Post out your Artist Link across all your social media platforms! Let fans know you’re building a following on your Spotify page and offer an incentive for reaching your goal of 250 followers. This can be as small as a giveaway for your latest release to one lucky fan that shares your post about following the Spotify page! If your fans are loyal, they’ll be more than happy to spread the word. Let them know that the verification will unlock even more ways to interact.
