While there is no shortage of music sync apps like AmpMe, jqbx, and Rave, but if you want to sync music online, the options are limited. Thankfully, Spotify recently launched a new group session streaming feature that lets you listen to the same song together.
As you don’t have to be on the same wifi, I guess this is really great feature to take advantage of in this pandemic. Here is how you can connect and control songs together.
The desktop app will automatically scan your computer to find music files, but you can also add tracks manually. Just drag a track from the Spotify app to your email compose window or message.

If your friend is nearby, ask them to open the Spotify app on their smartphone and select the same “Connect to a device” button, and tap on the SCAN TO JOIN. Alternatively, if your friend is far away, you can send them the screenshot over WhatsApp or email and ask them to use SELECT FROM PHOTOS option.

Wrapping up
This is still in the beta stage and as of now, you also don’t have the entire suite of social listening features that are rumored before. Anyhow, this is one of the most useful features a music streaming service of 2020 should have as a standard. Although I am quite impressed with the service, it could be an even better experience if we can just share the link with friends to join. As this feature is just in the beta stage and yet not available for everyone, we can expect Spotify to add such small features around it to make it more seamless.
